Stuck at home self-quarantining? How about giving on-line sailboat racing a try? Begun in 2010 and now working in partnership with sailing’s international governing body, World Sailing, Virtual Regatta has long allowed fans to take an active part in everything from the Vendée Globe to the Volvo Ocean Race and America’s Cup.

Satisfyingly realistic and offering pretty much everything you get with real sailboat racing (save mal de mer and salt spray) the game also offers a great way for the home- and shore-bound to pass the time as we all wait for the chance to go sailing again.

For non-racers, the Royal Yachting Association has even come out with fun "how-to" video below to help you get your feet wet, so to speak. Both inshore and offshore racing is possible. Who knows, when things return to normal, you might even want to try the real thing!
