Third Annual Atlantic Cup Fleet Making its Way to NYC

The first leg of the third annual Atlantic Cup presented by 11th Hour Racing kicked off from Charleston on May 11.

The first leg of the third annual Atlantic Cup presented by 11th Hour Racing kicked off from Charleston on May 11.

American and English teams started the race in a southwest 10-15 knot breeze, with #54 Dragon crossing the line first. For the second year in a row, though, #116 Icarus led the first mark rounding. First out of the harbor was #118 Bodacious Dream.

According to models, the tightly-packed seven sailboat fleet is expected to arrive in New York Harbor in the early morning of May 15.

Leg two of the Atlantic Cup begins on May 18 at 2pm with a race from New York to Newport. Two days of inshore racing on May 25-26 will close the event.
