You can now access critical AIS information the conventional way—via a chartplotter and NMEA or USB connection—or wirelessly using a smartphone or tablet with Vesper Marine’s Class B AIS XB-8000 WiFi transponder. The transponder, which includes a 50-channel GPS receiver and two-channel AIS receiver, can also be controlled wirelessly via iPhone or iPad when you download the company’s free app. The system is waterproof and compact for ease of installation, comes with its own externally mounted GPS antenna and can be accessed by as many as five wireless devices at a time. $799.Vesper Marine
