Dissatisfied with the results in their own sailing experience of trying to find an easy, more affordable way to route plan and navigate, the founders of SailProof in 2020 introduced the rugged, waterproof SP08 tablet. Their goal was to provide sailors who use a PC for route preparation and navigation a tough tablet with a high battery capacity to last more than a long day of sailing, a screen that’s truly readable in bright sunlight, and with wifi and G4 connectivity, among other key features. Now the company, based in Belgium and Spain, has added the 10-inch STS10 to its offerings to resolve another issue—"the impossibility of following one’s course in the cockpit without going down to the chart table.”

In discussions with sailors competing in Beneteau Figaro class—most of whom are Adrena users—they learned how difficult and even dangerous it is to have to go below to navigate on the PC itself. “Duplicating the PC screen on a tablet isn’t the most practical choice, so we wanted to offer a simpler, more affordable solution, while retaining the features for which SailProof is renowned,” the company says in a press release. “That's why we’re launching a sunlight-readable 10.1-inch waterproof touchscreen. Rated to IP65 and offering an exceptional brightness of 1500 NITS, this screen features a 100% waterproof 2-metre cable harness, extended by individual cables for direct power supply from the boat's battery, HDMI connection and touch function (USB). Simply plug it in like a second screen on the PC installed at the chart table, install it on a VESA-compatible mount and you'll never have to leave the cockpit or look away from the sea to check your position.” $554 at sailproof.shop
