Mary McKSchmidt’s new memoir tells the honest and impactful story of finding purpose through sailing and advocacy. As a young successful businesswoman, she was taught to sail by her soon-to-be-husband, Rubin. Not only that, but while she fell in love with the sometimes-treacherous waters of Lake Michigan, McKSchmidt also began to understand the environmental perils facing the Great Lakes. Deciding to speak out, she traded in her business suit for foulweather gear and began an advocacy campaign. Told as a series of rich vignettes spanning her adult life, McKSchmidt’s story is an inspiring reminder that one person with a goal and the tenacity to follow through can make a difference.
