This past winter, SAIL magazine visited the West System epoxies tech center in Bay City, Michigan, to learn some of the ins and out of epoxy use as the team of experts there set to work helping restore an old J/22. Among the many subjects they covered were the basic properties of epoxy; some of the specialized tools that have been created to minimize wastage and ensure a project’s success; and the best way to do everything from smooth out a ding to build and install a brand-new bulkhead.
