R.H.B. of San Pedro, California, asks:
My docked vessel has lately been attracting dead fish! I seem to be the only one around who has this smelly problem. I recently had my corrosion-control system refurbished. Could this be the cause? Or should I hire a diver to go down and have a look at my antifouling paint?
Gordon West replies
Don’t let anyone in the water near your boat! Your corrosion-control system could be lethal to anyone or anything in the path of the current impressed into your underwater bonded metal. Bring in a corrosion control specialist to monitor for stray current in the water. Stray current is not only dangerous to anything living near the hull, but could also eat up an underwater through-hull fitting in a matter of weeks. This needs immediate attention!
