For sailors living in the northern United States, summer is the season to stay local and enjoy the precious few months of good weather. But every now and again, it’s good to branch out, book a flight and seek other adventures. 
Maybe you’ve seen the popular shirt around the marina that reads: B-O-A-T/Break Out Another Thousand. It’s a pretty accurate saying when it comes to boat ownership and maintenance, but you don’t have to take the same financial blow to capture quality images offshore.

nter Marine Corp. founder Warren Luhrs has died after suffering a heart attack September 18. He was 69 years old. 
The last time I went frostbiting it was February in Chicago, and it was freezing. Not far offshore, ice floes loomed and just inshore, a layer of frost covered the hardened beaches of Lake Michigan, which bordered the black ice on Lake Shore Drive.
