Canfield Wins Chicago Match Cup

Hometown favorites Taylor Canfield and his USone team notched their first win of the 2013 Alpari World Match Racing Tour in dramatic fashion, coming from behind to defeat Australia’s Black Swan Racing team in the Chicago Match Cup.
Teams are gearing up for the May 11 afternoon start of the Atlantic Cup in Charleston.

With the increased emphasis on “extreme” racing featuring carbon-fiber cats, gigantic ocean-going multihulls and turbocharged skiffs, many might consider the idea of an inshore displacement monohull pro circuit to be a nonstarter. 
U.S. Paralympic sailors Jen French and JP Creignou succeeded where the U.S. Olympic team fell short, winning silver in the SKUD-18 class at the 2012 Paralympic regatta in Weymouth, England.
"We ran full-speed into something we weren’t expecting,” admitted Dean Brenner, the outgoing chairman of the U.S. Olympic Sailing Program, about the team’s performance at the 2012 Olympics in Weymouth, England.
The 33rd Museum of Yachting Classic Yacht Regatta took place over Labor Day weekend in Newport, Rhode Island. A favorite event in the community, sponsored by Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge, the regatta is limited to classic wooden yachts.
In mid-August, the island of Nantucket becomes the beehive around which competitors and spectators of Nantucket Race Week and its finale, The Opera House Cup Regatta, buzz.
