On Thursday, May 9, 2013, Artemis racing crewmember Andrew “Bart” Simpson died when the team’s AC72 catamaran capsized during a training session on San Francisco Bay.
To sail a 72-foot foiling catamaran around the course in AC34, the competitors will have to attack, attack, attack. And we’re not talking about attacking the opponent. It’s about attacking the course.

Charleston Hosts Fort 2 Battery Race

Sperry Top-Sider Charleston Race Week, the Moth North Americans and, new this year, the inaugural Fort 2 Battery Race, a high-speed 3.8 mile downwind sprint from Fort Sumter to the Charleston waterfront.
In the wake of last year’s Chicago-to-Mackinac race, in which two crewmembers died in the capsize of the Kiwi 35 sport boat WingNuts during a severe nighttime storm, the Chicago Yacht Club has instituted a series of changes to help ensure a similar accident doesn’t happen again.
