Cruising boat design has changed so much over the last decade that even boats targeted at family sailing now claim to be “performance” cruisers. Inevitably, though, boats still lean toward one end or the other of the performance/comfort spectrum, a balancing act that is well illustrated by a pair of new boats from two adjoining countries on the Adriatic Sea.
Attending the latest edition of Les Salons du Multicoques, a small but influential European boatshow in Lorient in Brittany this past April, we were amused to find that one of the more intriguing new boats on display wasn’t some cutting-edge high-performance job...
Several of this year’s finest sailboats, powerboats, kayaks and daysailors, will debut at the SailQuest Boat Show at Milford Lisman Landing Marina in Milford, CT, from May 17-19.

Who among us isn’t a sucker for pretty overhangs, a sweet sheerline and a flush deck? There isn’t a boat in Morris Yachts’s M-series line of Sparkman &Stephens-designed modern classics that’s not a head-turner, and the new M46 is no exception. New Boats Debut at Fall Shows

by Peter Nielsen, Posted September 30, 2011
It’s fall, and boat show season is upon us. It kicked off on the East Coast with the Newport International Boat Show, in France with the Grand Pavois de La Rochelle, and in England with the Southampton Boat Show. A jetlagged Peter Nielsen visited all three in one week. Here’s what he saw…
Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Show is dedicated to Maine-made products, including some of the most breathtaking sailboats in the country. Founded in 2003 by Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors magazine, now celebrating their 25th year, the show is held annually in Rockland, Maine.
Something has happened to the Strictly Sail component of the Miami International Boat Show over the last five years. Each February, I’ve seen a drop in the number of monohulls and an increase in the number and variety of multihulls. This year, I twice attempted to count the number of catamarans; each time I was distracted and lost track somewhere around the mid-20s. Granted, there were a few brokerage boats in there, but it was an impressive turnout nevertheless, with plenty of new models amongst the evergreens.
