Tripp 76 Cafe Racer
Baltic Yachts has started work on this lifting-keel sloop from the board of Tripp Design. Carbon construction and composite rigging will keep its weight down and allows for the installation of a luxurious Dick Young–designed interior.
A caf racer is a cruising yacht whose sailing characteristics approach those of a racer, but whose modern aesthetics are a source of pride to an owner when the yacht is parked in front of a Mediterranean caf. The yacht is intended principally for family cruising, but the owner also plans to race occasionally. There is a large owner’s stateroom aft; up forward there are three guest cabins and accommodations for two crew. An entertainment area fits under the deckhouse, the profile of which is shaped to provide uninterrupted views around the yacht from within. On deck, the cockpit offers plenty of space forward for guests and family members; behind it is a good-sized working cockpit with dual wheel stations.
“We’re pleased to be collaborating with Baltic on this project,” says Bill Tripp. “It’s an exciting design that will be greatly enhanced by Dick Young.” Jens Cornelson will be the project manager.
