US Sailing began accepting nominations for its Rolex 2012 Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year awards on Monday, October 1.  The award, which is considered one of the highest individual sailing honors in the nation, is given to one male and one female sailor who have had the most outstanding on-the–water performance nationally or internationally in 2012.

Members of US Sailing can nominate sailors on US Sailing’s website until November 30, 2012. After the nomination period ends, a panel of accomplished sailing journalists will discuss the merits of each nominee. The panel will then vote by secret ballot to decide the final winners in the male and female categories.

Winners will be honored in February 2013 at a luncheon at the St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco where they will receive custom-engraved Rolex timepieces.
