Many Voices, One Body

Bookmark and Share

DJ-turned-author Michael Buckley has hosted his popular Sunday-morning program, Voices of the Chesapeake Bay, on the Annapolis, Maryland, radio station WRNR for the past seven years. His interviews with a steady stream of Chesapeake locals and authorities on the bay amount to an oral history of the area, with authorities ranging from paleontologists to a former governor and numerous local fishermen and subjects ranging from early accounts of this ancient body of water to discussions of its future. Pro sailing gets a chapter of interviews with Gary Jobson, Terry Hutchinson, and Tom Weaver. If you don’t know much about the biggest and best, albeit imperiled, estuary in America, this book will be the only Cliff Notes you need. If you think you already know everything there is to know about these brackish waters, think again. There’s much here to learn about the diverse residents and landscape that you would be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. Hear the show live on wrnr.com, Sundays at 0700.
