2013 Sailing Resolutions
We asked sailing celebrities what they’ve resolved to accomplish on the water in 2013. Here’s what they came up with:
2012 Paralympic Silver Medalist
"After coming off an intense Paralympic campaign, my resolution for 2013 is to reconnect with friends in the sailing community and get on the water with them. Also, to try new boats and various adaptations for sailors with disabilities."
blogger at sailfeed.com
"It will be high time to stop working and get out sailing! I resolve to build an Ian Oughtred-designed sailing dinghy for a tender, finish preparing my boat for bluewater sailing, then cross an ocean, or at least the Gulf of Mexico."
author of Bull Canyon, Capable Cruiser, Storm Tactics Handbook, landlpardey.com
"To invite more friends out for day sails with me."
three-time America’s Cup Sailor, President of OakCliff Sailing Center
"To find a sponsor for Oakcliff Sailing Center’s newly donated boat, the Farr 47, Mirage, for the Great Lakes Circuit, to see lots of good old friends and maybe meet a cute new boy."
first sailor to complete a nonstop singlehanded circumnavigation of the Americas
"To successfully sail through the Northwest Passage with two scientists on board, collecting data on the condition and stability of the Arctic permafrost."
Patagonia Surf Ambassador, world cruiser, blogger at swellvoyage.com
"To put as much maintenance and love into myself as I do to Swell; to learn to relax on my boat."
systems guru, author of Boatowner’s Mechanical and Electrical Manual
"To finally stop arranging pick-ups and drop-offs for friends, family and crew from their arrival and departure destinations and instead make them come and find us if they want to come cruising!"
Chairman Offshore Sailing School,Olympic sailor, America’s Cup sailor, designer of Colgate 26
"If a pending invitation to crew on a performance catamaran across the Atlantic Ocean comes through, I resolve to accept. Though I have sailed in six transatlantic races, I have never cruised across the pond. At 77, I think it’s time to enjoy the sublime attractions of being at sea for long periods of time."
