Garden Island, Lake Michigan. Garden Island lies north of the Beaver Island (Michigan) chain, on the northeastern shore of Lake Michigan. It is an absolute treasure that remains secluded because most sailors won’t venture through the shoals to get there.–Bill Algaier, Bay Breeze Yacht Charters
Put-in-Bay, South Bass Island, Lake Erie. Good swimming, good fishing, and easy pick-up buoys are all reasons to visit this island anchorage in Ohio. Rent bikes and tour the historic town, or make good use of access to the Erie Islands.–Patricia Balde, Harbor North
Chippewa Harbor, Isle Royale, Lake Superior. The craggy shoreline of this remote national park (part of Michigan) opens to allow passage to a cliff-lined basin with ample wildlife and beauty. A hike through the woods will take you by the ruins of an old school and bogs.
